One possible solution, it hopes, is by opening so-called integrated resorts -- leisure facilities that combine casinos, hotels, shopping centers and more under one roof. Encouraged by the overseas success of these resorts, Tokyo hopes to bring some of that magic back home.

TORONTO: The same hacker targeting Canadian casinos and mining companies for extortion since 2013 is planning more attacks, researchers at cyber security company FireEye Inc said in a report on Friday. FireEye said it believes that a single hacker or hacking group that it dubbed FIN10 is behind the breaches due to similarities in method: how they broke into corporate systems, stealing gigabytes of sensitive data and demanding ransom paid in Bitcoin, and publicizing the stolen information by alerting bloggers.

SINGAPORE: The mastermind of Singapore's largest ever casino chip scam, Toh Hock Thiam, was jailed seven years and four months on Wednesday (Jun 7). The 55-year-old faced 13 charges under the Casino Control Act and was found guilty after a 14-day trial. Another 162 charges were taken into consideration, including a charge for fleeing the country illegally.

Leaders of the House of Representatives are eyeing to remove the licensing powers of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) over casinos following the Resorts World Manila (RWM) carnage, where 38 people were killed. During the lower chamber’s probe on the June 2 RWM incident, Speaker Pantaleon D. Alvarez and Majority Leader and PDP-Laban Rep. Rodolfo Fariñas of Ilocos Norte scored Pagcor for not immediately suspending the license of RWM after the shooting and arson attack of lone gunman Jessie Javier Carlos.
